TOWARDS A BIOSPHERE ATMOSPHERE CHANGE INDEX

AU Aarhus University - Section for Ecoinformatics & Biodiversity, Department of Bioscience (AU-ECOINF)

The Section for Ecoinformatics & Biodiversity (AU-ECOINF) is a research and teaching section under the Department of Bioscience at Aarhus University. The section’s research is focused on basic and applied research on geospatial ecology and biodiversity, combining strong skills in ecoinformatics with a solid background in field-based studies in Europe as well as remote tropical regions. Key research foci are cross-scale dynamics in species distributions and community assembly, global-change-induced biodiversity and ecological dynamics, and human-biodiversity coexistence in this human-dominated era, the Anthropocene. The group has a strong tradition of interdisciplinary work, with ongoing collaborations with computer scientists, anthropologists, and agroscientists.

OUR ROLE IN BACI

  • Leading the work on implications for biodiversity research and monitoring (WP8)
  • Contributing ground data (WP3), particularly bird and plant biodiversity databases and Danish LiDAR data
  • Assessment of biodiversity change through time and relationships with BACI products
  • Enhanced species distribution models leveraging high-resolution BACI data
  • Assessments of biodiversity vulnerability to change
